~The Turks fought against the Serbs for Bosnia in the battle called Kosovo, in the year 1389. ~Bosnia won independence from Hungary in about 1200. ~Serbia and Montenegro fought for Bosnian in 1876. ~Yugoslavia because they fought and voted for independence against them.
Flag and Significance. Significance! The Triangle's points represent the 3 ethnic groups in Bosnia; Bosnaiks (Bosnian Muslims),Croat, and Serbs. The yellow background is a neutral background and the blue symbolizes Europe. The stars on the flag represents the Council of Europe. There are two stars are half stars, they symbolize the division of the country between the Federation of Bosnia and Republic srpska. Also, if the two stars are put together like a jig-saw puzzle they create one whole star, this symbolizes the hope that these two parts will join together one day!
Traditional Foods. Picture of Krofi! ~One of the things they like to eat is Cevapcici (CAH-VAHP-CHI-CHI). This is made up of ground lamb, pork, or beef that is shaped into sausage like forms and seasoned. This is usually grilled with onions and served on somun (SON-MOON), which is a thick pita bread. Tufiji ~Tufahija is a dessert that they eat in Bosnia. You peel and get rid of the core, then you take crushed walnuts and raisins and mix them together. Now you pour the mixture in the place where the core of the apple was. You then dissolve sugar into water and pour that over the apples. you bake until they are cooked, but not soggy. serve cold.
